Meet Tyler Sweat, another 2015 McWane Scholarship
May 18, 2015

Tyler Sweat, son of Nathan and Heidi Sweat, is the oldest of eight children. He is an outstanding student, and has taken personal responsibility for his education, always staying on top of his classes without much prodding from his parents.
His favorite academic classes are math and physics and his least favorite is English. His favorite class overall is ceramics, which he has taken twice (not because of poor performance, but because he liked it so much and was eager to learn more).
In addition to academics, Tyler played football at Maple Mountain High School for two years, ran hurdles on the track team for one year, and was part of a robotics team for three years. This year he and a teammate were responsible for programming the robot and, in addition, were the drivers of their team's robot during the FIRST Robotics competition in Salt Lake City where their team alliance took second place out of over 50 teams. He is also an Eagle Scout.
After a 2-year mission in El Salvador and Belize, Tyler plans to attend Brigham Young University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. He is constantly experimenting with electronics and computers so this should be a great fit.
Tyler is smart, responsible, hard-working and kind, and has a really fun sense of humor. He is grateful for the honor of receiving the McWane scholarship, and will continue to work hard in his studies and in life.
