Zeydi Gutierrez represents AB&I at leadership breakfast

AB&I team member Zeydi Gutierrez (pictured top left) was recently invited to participate in Councilmember Larry Reid’s District 7 Leadership Breakfast which was held at the Oracle Arena. He wanted to bring community and business leaders in District 7 together to discuss issues that are most important to residents in the district. One issue is what will happen to the Coliseum if the Oakland A’s move.
The Oakland A’s are committed to staying in Oakland and are contemplating whether to stay at the Coliseum or build a new venue at the Harbor Terminal. Councilmember Reid was soliciting input from community and business leaders on their vision for the site if the A’s move. Many people representing the residents of the community, non-profit and for-profit businesses, discussed what they would like to see at the site. The suggestions included a convention center, hotel, retail shopping, restaurants, professional soccer team, baseball field, walking trails, access to the water from the stadium, entrepreneurial businesses, etc. It was a common sentiment that whatever goes in should reflect the diversity of the community which is what makes Oakland such a unique place to live. They all stressed the importance of hiring locally and revitalizing the Oakland community.
Oakland A’s President Dave Kaval was very receptive to the ideas, and will continue having talks with different segments of the community. He plans to form focus groups for the development of the site, workforce development and others. Zeydi was invited to join the Workforce Development forum.
